The culprit was an outdated add-on from EndNote that got loaded at install time from a legacy Word setting apparenty. Once that add-on was removed, Word stopped freezing. More testing will be needed, of course.

I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. I can print fine as an administrator but I want the problem solved for good so I don’t have to run word as an administrator. What options are there to fix this? Should I go back to Windows 8. Do I need to upgrade Office? I need to be able print documents for school.

It seems only to affect word, as powerpoint and excel are both running well.
