I am so happy I took the dive and purchased this Surface Pro 3. My MacBook pro was starting to poop out on me after 7 years of its faithful presence. I was dead set on buying another apple product before I started to research. After hours of research and several trips to best buy later, I decided on a surface pro 3. I did not need a full computer because I am just about to graduate from law school. Thus, the most I needed a computer for was Netflix, taking notes, researching, and surfing the web.
However, I wanted a device that did more than just a tablet – which is the reason why I did not go with the iPad Pro. I love the iPads, but really they are just larger phones. Therefore, in two years, the tablet becomes increasingly slow due to the incapability of handling the new upgrade in software.
I have the iPad 2 and it is painstakingly slow. I wanted the full access of a computer, but the ease and lightness of a tablet – enter the Surface Pro 3. Upon chatting with several surface experts, I realized that the Pro 3 and Pro 4 were not much different – especially for the tasks I wished to accomplish. After setting up my Surface Pro 3 I have immediately fell in love. I was so nervous at first to buy from Amazon because the surface experts said that most Pro 3s that you find online are refurbished or used.
But I will tell you that this was brand new. Not a scratch or dent on it. I decided to upgrade the stylus and keyboard to the Surface Pro 4 keyboard and stylus because those were the largest improvements between the 3 and 4. I am so glad I did. Even though this one comes with the 3 stylus, the 4 is a vast improvement. This price is a steal for a brand new Surface Pro 3. If had any doubt, like I did, don’t.
This seller is providing you exactly what you expect – a brand new, fully functioning, Surface Pro 3. My only qualms with this computer are two things: 1 it was not charged at all when I received it; thus, I had to wait a bit to charge the computer before it would turn on; and 2 Microsoft 10 was not downloaded on the computer when I received it; but, you are able to update while setting up the computer.
Although these two things were annoying at first, it does not change my mind with how great I think the Surface and this company did when providing me this computer.
For this low price, I am willing to take the extra time to charge the computer and update it to windows To people who ware converting from Apple to Windows, I will tell you that it is some getting used to, but Microsoft has a great app that helps with tips on using the Surface. Additionally, their website is a great resource to figuring out how to transfer from Apple to Windows – they have an actual page that gives you the run down of transferring from Apple to Windows.
Within 1 week of using the Surface Pro 3 tablet, it has been a great asset to have and use for both work and play. I will continue to update this review as time goes on with the tablet. Pros: – The tablet looks great! The picture is very clear. The resolution is beyond impressive.
I play AOE and Sims 4 and the picture is beautiful. The game naturally runs fast with little-normal lag depending on the amount of mods and performance settings. However, I would encourage getting an i7 or higher to run heavier games. Perhaps this device can be overclocked, but wouldn’t recommend for the average user.
The pen is responsive, the pen pressure can be adjusted, and there are different tips you can buy for the surface pen to equal that of different leads. I’ve created substantial works of art with this tablet. The latest update programs your tablet to not recognize the windows button on the side when you are drawing. Cons: – The device does come with Windows Pro 10 installed, but it needs to update once you get it to use it properly. I had to debug the system to get it to continue updating which took several hours.
While this is a minor inconvenience or it may be the amount of pressure I use with my pen and finger , it can be a tad annoying. Luckily, it does come with a temperature monitor to protect it from overheating.
The device only comes with 1 USB port. I had several programs running at once not tabs. The device does not seem to be able to handle more than 3 heavy programs running at a time. Again, I’m not sure what happened here, but once restarted, the system worked perfectly. I am glad to have invested in this device so far.
Except maybe Surface Pro 4 and the Future 5. Best tablet I have owned! I carry this around in my backpack now and use it as my laptop which saves space and weight. I also purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro Type Cover which also works great and with that it literally works like a laptop but also gives you the portability of a tablet.
The surface pen works wonderfully and makes quick note taking a breeze which is also important for a person in IT to make quick documentation on the fly. I have also used this to make really detailed instructions for teachers at our school to give them an easy visual walkthrough of how to do certain things without having to be right there.
Only slight downside which is not a big deal at all is if you are in a position where you are sitting really straight up with the keyboard attached the stand in the back does not feel as comfortable as a laptop, it almost feels like it is going to fall but if you sit in a chair where you can lean back a bit it feels very natural.

Bough it, it came two days later, and I couldn’t be more pleased. There’s not a scratch on it and works beautifully. Picked up right where I left off with my old one. Highly recommend. I’m sure there are lemons out there, but this has been like a brand new computer for me.
