I tried most of the links and only one returned a valid page. I followed the questions and answers, but at the end it just said that I should contact Microsoft Customer Support, which I will do as soon as I have time.

For good measure, I restarted the E after uninstalling the programs. I had no problems with the installation and the product key was validated after I entered it. Once the installation was complete, I fired up Word and clicked the Activate over the internet option. After a minute or so, I got the same “Product Key is Invalid” message.

I have no reason to think that the software that I have is not genuine. If it is fake, it is an awfully good fake. I believe that something else is going on, but I have no idea what. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Rohn’s post on September 8, This is an old computer with a fresh installation of Windows. The hard drive had been in a different PC and had Office installed at one time.

All of the data was erased on the original hard drive and the and a fresh install of windows 7 was performed. Even though I did it, I don’t recall whether I reformatted the drive before I installed windows. I think that IO did, because there was a recovery partition on the drive and I wanted to remove it. There is something that I could try, but haven’t. I have several of these Ds that I have rehabilitated and could try installing Office one another one. Since this is a 3 user license, I should be able to install and activate 3 copies.

I’ve got at least 2 more notebooks that don’t have Office installed. At the least, I could see if I get the same activation error. In reply to WillGiles’s post on September 8, Windows 7 Pro was installed from a disk and the updates were manually installed from Microsoft downloads.

I don’t recall the details, but WIndows update would hang and did not automatically install the updates. As far as I am aware, Windows 7 is up to date and Windows update is working properly now. Validate Now: You can confirm that your software is genuine now I don’t know if this link is still working. There are 3 possible causes, 4 possible fixes: First confirm that you are not making a simple typing error.

Verify that you have the correct key and retype it. I called customer support and was quickly connected to a representative. I was not able to understand her English and eventually I was transferred to a different representative.

I lost the key so I installed a third party software to get the key. I believe it retrieved the key from the registry. Office was activated before. The issue happened after Windows 7 is upgraded to Windows It is preinstalled for volume licensed Office to support other methods of activation. Hi, sounds like Home Use Program which cannot be used when you leave the school/Uni/college or workplace. That is because access is determined. I simply want to re-download (I have an activation key for ), but can only find download links for Office and I don’t want/need. My computer has been formatted back to factory settings. I cannot reinstall my office with the product key and do not have a disc.
